Full guidelines
Our objective is to let adults meet new people in one-to-one video chats, safely and on their own terms. These guidelines are the rules for using ChatDrift.Fun; “we” and “us” mean the people who run it. By ticking the box on the welcome screen you confirm you are 18 or older and agree to follow them and the Cookie Policy. They are not a complete list: moderators may act against anything harmful, unsafe, illegal or deceptive, even when it is not named below.
Safety, age and consent
1. Who can use ChatDrift.Fun
ChatDrift.Fun is for adults only. You must be 18 or older, and old enough to use a service like this where you live, if that age is higher.
ChatDrift.Fun does not check anyone’s age. Ticking the box on the welcome screen is your own confirmation, and giving a false age breaks these guidelines.
Never let anyone under 18 use ChatDrift.Fun on your device, appear on your camera or join your chat. If a moderator believes someone is under 18, their connection is blocked.
You are responsible for everything you say, show, type and share in a chat.
2. Protecting children
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material, grooming, sextortion, and any sexualization or exploitation of minors, in any form: real, drawn, animated, AI-generated or role-played.
Never ask anyone who might be under 18 for images, personal details, private contact, gifts, money or a meeting.
When we learn of suspected child sexual exploitation, we block the connection, keep what we hold about it, report it where the law requires, and may cooperate with law enforcement.
3. Nudity and sexual content
Keep it clothed. No nudity, sexual acts or sexual content on camera or in chat, and no links to them.
No sexual requests, sexual comments, or pressure to undress or send images.
No selling or advertising sexual services, escorting or paid sexual arrangements.
4. Consent, recording and identity
Do not record, screenshot, stream or share another person’s video, voice or messages without their clear consent. ChatDrift.Fun has no recording feature, and using other tools to record people does not make it allowed.
Do not chat from places where others expect privacy, such as bathrooms or changing rooms, and do not show other people on your camera without their consent.
Do not pretend to be someone else, use another person’s image or voice, or play pre-recorded or altered video to deceive the person you meet.
How to treat people
5. Harassment and bullying
Do not harass, bully, intimidate, humiliate or stalk anyone. No insults about someone’s body, appearance or identity.
No unwanted sexual comments, advances or requests.
If someone asks you to stop, stop. If they press Next, let them go, and do not try to find them again.
Do not threaten to report someone falsely, or to pick Devil, to pressure them.
6. Hate and extremism
No hateful conduct, slurs, hateful symbols or dehumanizing language aimed at people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age or serious illness.
Do not praise, support, recruit for or promote terrorist or violent extremist groups.
7. Threats and violence
No threats of violence, calls for violence, or praise for violent attacks.
Do not show graphic violence, serious injury, cruelty to animals, or weapons used to intimidate.
Do not share instructions for making weapons, explosives or other means of causing real-world harm.
8. Self-harm and people in distress
Do not encourage, instruct or glorify self-harm, suicide or eating disorders, and do not use them to pressure anyone.
Talking about difficult experiences with care is allowed.
If someone seems to be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. You can also press Report so a moderator knows.
Illegal activity, scams and misuse
9. Illegal activity
Do not use ChatDrift.Fun to plan, promote or carry out anything illegal, including trafficking, drug or weapon sales, fraud, theft, hacking or money laundering.
Follow the laws that apply to you where you are.
10. Scams, spam and selling
No scams, phishing, fake giveaways, investment or crypto schemes, and no asking for money, gift cards or payments.
No advertising, selling, or promoting other sites, accounts or services.
No gambling, betting or prize draws.
No spam: repeated messages, links or copied scripts.
11. Privacy and personal information
Do not share, ask for or threaten to share anyone’s personal information without their consent: full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, social media accounts, documents, location, workplace or school.
Do not try to find out who or where someone is.
Be careful with your own details. The person you meet is a stranger, and ChatDrift.Fun never needs your name, your number or an account.
12. Misuse of ChatDrift.Fun
Do not use bots, scripts or other automation, and do not flood the service with connections.
Do not try to get around a block, moderation, the age rule or the limits on ratings, for example with a VPN or another connection.
Do not attack, overload, probe or reverse engineer the service, or try to reach parts of it that are not meant for you.
Respect other people’s rights: do not broadcast films, sports, music or other material you have no right to share.
Do not pretend to be a moderator or to speak for ChatDrift.Fun. You must not impersonate, affiliate yourself with, or misuse ChatDrift.Fun or our trademarks in any domain name, app, account, link, advertisement or other place.
Moderation, ratings and enforcement
13. How moderation works
People moderate ChatDrift.Fun. Nothing scans your video or your messages automatically.
Whenever your camera is on here, in the lobby or in a call, a moderator can watch your video live or view still images of it. While watching your call, a moderator can also listen to your microphone.
A moderator can read the recent messages of a chat while it is happening, and a copy of them is kept with any report about it.
Every look, whether live video, still images or messages, is written to a log the moderation team can see.
Moderators see your connection’s IP address, your browser type and technical details of your call. They do not see your name, because ChatDrift.Fun never asks for it.
14. Angel vs. Devil
Angel vs. Devil is a private rating built into every chat. A couple of seconds after a call connects, two buttons appear on the other person’s video: 😇 Angel and 😈 Devil. Pressing one rates the person you are talking to. You can pick once per chat, and a pick cannot be changed.
A pick is never shown to the person you rated or to anyone else. Moderators see only totals, never who picked what.
Picks move each person along a slider of eight steps, from Maximum Angel to Maximum Devil, starting at Neutral. They count when the chat ends, and only for a chat that connected and lasted at least 20 seconds. With no new picks, a position drifts back toward Neutral by a quarter of a step every hour. After a chat, the waiting screen shows you your own position as it stood before that chat, from everyone who rated you lately, and nothing when you are Neutral; the picks of the chat that just ended reach it with your next chat.
Reaching Maximum Devil blocks your connection for 1 hour, automatically. Your position then starts again at Neutral, or at Devil if it is your second block within a day. This block is the result of picks, not a moderator’s ban. Reaching Maximum Angel shows you a small 😎 note in your chats while you are there.
Your position is shown to other people only near either end of the scale, in its own words, as a small badge on your video: “😇✨ Maximum Angel”, “😇 Strong Angel”, “😈 Strong Devil” or “😈🔥 Super Devil”. In between they see nothing, and they are never told who picked what.
The site’s owner can also add picks by hand for any connection. They count like everyone else’s picks, badges and the block included, and each one is logged with the owner’s name.
- One person’s pick about another counts at most once a day, and one person’s Devil picks count at most ten times an hour.
- Picks from or about a connection with no address never count.
- Two people on the same connection get one rated chat an hour.
- Without picks added by hand, a block always takes picks from at least two different people.
- When your pick could not count, you are shown no buttons in that chat.
Positions are kept in the server’s memory only. They drift back toward Neutral while nobody picks, are forgotten after a day with no new picks, and are lost when the server restarts.
Rate the conversation honestly. Do not ask for, trade, coordinate or threaten picks, or use more than one connection to rate someone. Angel vs. Devil has no prizes and no value, and abusing it breaks these guidelines.
15. Reports
Press Report (the flag) during a chat, or within a minute after it ends, to report the person you talked to. Choose a reason and add a note if you like.
Sending a report ends the chat, and the recent messages of that chat are kept with the report for a moderator to review.
Reports about minors, sexual exploitation, threats or someone in danger are the most urgent. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
Moderators review reports as soon as they can, but we cannot promise a response time. Report only real problems: false or revenge reports break these guidelines.
16. Blocks and other enforcement
When we believe these guidelines or the law have been broken, we may end a chat, disconnect you, or block your connection for a time or permanently.
Some blocks are automatic: when several different people report the same connection it is blocked for a limited time, and reaching Maximum Devil blocks it for 1 hour. A moderator can shorten, extend or lift any block.
A block applies to your connection’s IP address (for IPv6, to your network). On shared Wi-Fi, at a workplace or on a mobile network it can affect other people too, and it may stop applying if your address changes.
Serious violations, such as anything involving minors, sexual exploitation, threats of violence or getting around a block, can lead to a permanent block without warning.
We may keep information and share it with law enforcement where the law requires or allows it, or to protect someone from serious harm.
17. Appeals
Automatic blocks end on their own, and the block screen says when.
We review appeals in good faith, but cannot promise to reverse a decision, and may ignore abusive or repeated appeals.
Your data and these guidelines
18. What ChatDrift.Fun keeps
ChatDrift.Fun has no accounts. It never asks for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth.
- Your connection. The server sees your IP address and uses it to apply blocks, reports, ratings and limits. While you are connected, moderators can see it with your browser type.
- Video and sound. They are encrypted between the two browsers and always travel through a relay service, so the person you meet never sees your IP address, and the relay cannot see or hear the call. The relay does see your IP address, which it needs to carry the call. ChatDrift.Fun does not record or store video or sound, and a moderator’s view is shown live, not saved.
- Messages. They pass through our server. The recent messages of your current chat are held in memory and deleted when your next chat starts or you leave, unless the chat is reported.
- Reports. Kept until a moderator closes them. The messages kept with a report are deleted 30 days after it is closed, and the closed report after 90 days.
- Blocks. Kept until they end; a permanent block is kept.
- The activity log. Recent events, such as connections, matches and reports, are listed for moderators in memory. Moderators’ own actions, such as blocks, views and closed reports, are also written to an audit record with the connection they concern.
- Ratings. Held in the server’s memory, as Angel vs. Devil describes above.
- Call quality. Your browser reports technical measurements, such as the connection type and delay. Moderators see the latest ones while you are connected; after that they are kept only as per-minute totals, for two hours.
- Copies. Once a day the server makes a copy of the blocks, the reports, the audit record and the list of moderators, so a broken disk does not lose them. Each copy is deleted after 7 days. A copy never keeps a report’s messages or a closed report past the dates above; a block that has ended can stay in a copy until that copy is deleted.
We do not sell your information, show advertising, or use analytics or tracking.
19. Cookies and your browser
ChatDrift.Fun sets no cookies. It keeps a few settings in your browser’s own storage: your agreement, and your theme and volume choices. The Cookie Policy lists each one and how to remove them.
20. Changes to these guidelines
The date at the top shows when these guidelines last changed. When they or the Cookie Policy change, the welcome screen asks you to agree again before your next chat.
We apply these guidelines with judgment, taking context, severity and harm into account.
If any part of these guidelines cannot be applied where you live, the rest still applies.
